Maths are cool; unfortunately, most kids don’t find them attractive. Why? Mainly because, unlike reading or drawing –which are learnt through fun activities –, maths are usually associated with school and homework. So basically, to make your child love maths, you need to make them feel like they are a game.

Which isn’t strictly untrue.

So let’s have a look at some fun ways to make your child love maths, shall we?

Games and Activities to Make Your Child Love Maths

Kokoro Kids

One of the categories within our app is “Numbers & Maths”, made up by dozens of games for kids to learn and understand the numbers, basic problem solving (addition and subtraction), logic, patterns and sequences… All while having fun!

Count together

When you are with your child, count the stairs; the number of grapes you give them, the number of dishes they are putting on the table, the number of things you buy at at shop…

Stack blocks in order

Stick numbers on blocks and ask your child to stack them in the right order. With this activity, you’ll make sure they know the numbers, and also their order.

What do numbers mean?

Give your child a small box, some balls of paper and show them a number. Ask them to put said number of balls of paper in the box. Now, not only will they be able to count, but also to understand what numbers mean.

Sort everyday objects by their geometric shape

TVs are rectangular, pans are round, a slice of pizza is triangular… your child will understand shapes a lot easier if they relate them with everyday objects. You can find a game like this one on Kokoro Kids.
