You love veggies, we love veggies, and your child will probably love veggies one day too. But that day is still yet to come. Until then, let’s think of some ways to sneak veggies into meals like the true ninjas we are.

Disclaimer: we don’t think we should sneak veggies into meals forever, thus making them feel like they can eat whatever they want instead of what we encourage them to eat because it’s good for them. These are just some tips to make your child actually fall in love with veggies. Because, what’s not to love about them?

1. Be re-sauce-ful

he he yeah, we know, we’re hilarious.

But now, for real, who doesn’t love pasta? Prepare some whole-wheat pasta (a lot better than white pasta) and accompany it with a sauce filled up with veggies. Carrots, onion, peppers, tomatoes, spices… sky is the limit.

2. Turn fruits and veggies into colourful smoothies

Juicing fruits and veggies is not the best way to consume your greens –which doesn’t mean we can’t do it, few things are as refreshing as a fresh orange juice –. However, blending them is a completely different thing, since you’re using the whole piece of fruit or veggie instead of just its juice (which contains mostly sugar).

We recommend adding some milk or yogurt to the mix; since if you only use fruits and veggies, you’ll need too many pieces in order to get one glass.

3. Lollipop-em!

Simple, delicious, and a great alternative to the ice-creams kids –and adults –usually eat. The ones in the picture contain avocado, lime and coconut milk, but you can make them using pretty much any fruit!

4. Try veggie chips

Carrot, parsnip or zucchini fries, kale chips…  all these alternatives to regular fries are easy to make, oven baked instead of actually fried, and a lot healthier!

4. Add them to hummus

Hummus is great. Healthy, fresh, and easy to make. Yes, we knooooow, it doesn’t contain veggies. But what would life be like if we didn’t take some crazy risks, like, for example, adding beetroot to hummus? Not only does does it taste amazing, it also looks irresistible –even to kids –.

5. Holy guacamole

The avocado lollipop idea was great, we know, but we don’t have to get so creative to make kids eat veggies and fruit. Homemade guacamole doesn’t contain anything but avocado, tomato, a bit of lemon or lime and some chile (which you can just not add if your child is not too much into spicy food).

6. Become best friends with cauliflower

The best thing about cauliflower is that it can actually replace several other ingredients, making many recipes a lot healthier!

This cauliflower pizza crust recipe is just an example of all the delicious dishes you can make using this veggie!
